Austin, TX

So WD wanted me to try to start blogging although it still is hard for me to sit and write my personal life onto this website, but everyone seems to be addicted to it so it must be fun. I guess it is like a virtual journal anyway, so here is one of my first entries on our blog (albeit very brief). I went to a conference in Austin Texas this week about mineralized tissues (bone and teeth) and had a good time. It was a pretty nice place and was warmer than Atlanta in November. My adviser made a connection for me to visit an orthopedic biotech company located there and that was a neat opportunity. It is still too early to try to get jobs for me, but I was trying to start some early networking. I'm not sure that we used to think of ourselves as Texas people but if the right job comes I could go lots of places I suppose. We'll have to see.

Above is the hat that I brought home to Sawyer from Texas ("Texas" is a mouthful for Sawyer to say, I guess he is still a little rough on his "X" pronunciation). Anyway, YEEHAW! Look at that smile.

Tad, I do have to admit when I end up in Texas during the winter in Atlanta, I am so glad to be there. Maybe you could live in Texas; you just have to walk around saying Texas is the best place in the universe and you should fit in just fine! As you can tell SM will fit in just fine if that is the way the wind blows.

Kevin and I never thought of ourselves as "Texas people" either. As a matter of fact, that was the one place we decided we didn't want to live when discussing it soon after we got married. Haha, and now we're moving to Austin!

Texas IS the best place in the universe! Okay, I say that because we live here, but it really is nice, especially Austin, and not just because we are here. Austin is green, and there is lots of live music, great tex-mex, so many parks, and who doesn't want to grill and go out on the boat for Thanksgiving? In the words of my three year old "GO TEXAS!"

Totally random but I swear there was a post up about camera's the other day. Am I going crazy or am I right?

I love love love Austin. If I could pick anywhere in the USA to live, it'd be a close match between Austin and NYC. (But don't worry, we also love ATL and figure we could do a lot worse.) I guess I'm a Texas person myself, having grown up in Dallas. But then it begs the question, what exactly are 'Texas people' anyway?
